An Intensive Approach
Sharon and Karen have developed a unique programme that has adapted different theories and approaches which have been proved to effectively treat OCD. Working as a team and using their own personal experience, professional observation and a deep intuitive understanding of the condition they have devised a programme that they know works. They are confident that everyone who attends the programme will experience a benefit.
The 5 Day Intensive Course
We recommend this type of format as an alternative to standard one to one therapy where the usual requirement is to visit a therapist once or twice a week.
What Karen and Sharon have realised and discovered is that the traditional therapy approach sometimes isn’t enough in terms of keeping momentum and re-establishing new behaviours. Sharon has extensive experience both in group format as well as one to one, has witnessed far greater, longer lasting results when the intensive format is implemented. OCD therapy involves ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention) and this needs to be incorporated into the therapy. It is also very important to keep motivation going and support new skills as well as having a therapist to answer questions.The intensive programme can accommodate this.

Learning to manage OCD involves a process much like building a house. First and foremost you need a foundation of knowledge and understanding.
Each day of the Intensive you will be taught the building blocks of wellness in order to achieve the end result which is to regain control over your mind and emotions, therefore your life.
One to One Therapy – The Intensive course is run by two qualified therapists and during the group programme, there are many opportunities to have one-to-one counselling. As OCD is exasperated by stress and life style, it is likely there will be personal issues to you that may need addressing, both therapists are trained to deal with many emotional concerns and life issues.
The 5 Day Programme
Day 1 and Day 2
Both days will include laying the foundation of knowledge, uncovering your irrational beliefs and challenging them, how to manage stress more effectively, psychology and understanding of anxiety/fear and empowering you to regain back your life. Goal setting and relapse prevention are then addressed.
Day 3 and Day 4
Consists of desensitisation field work implementing what you have learnt and how to manage your emotional responses.
The morning will be spent introducing you to the important aspect of how beneficial mindful awareness and relaxation will have over your emotional well -being.
Relapse Prevention and maintenance is crucial to your recovery. In the afternoon we will be looking at how changing your life style and getting your emotional needs met will help support your recovery. Additionally there will be an opportunity to have a one to one therapeutic session with your allocated therapist.
Intensive Home Treatment
If you prefer, and sometimes it is a requirement which would be discussed with you and our senior therapist, we can accommodate one to one behavioural therapy in your home.
