Karen Buckingham

ADV Dip Couns (MBACP)

Karen’s journey as a therapist began whilst searching for the correct treatment to combat her OCD. It took a very long time but eventually she found a private therapist who understood OCD perfectly. She became an inspiration to Karen and encouraged her to train as a therapist. As Karen felt so passionate about supporting people with OCD it became a need and desire to put something back in and help others who experience similar struggles. Once Karen felt she had gained enough management skills to combat her OCD she embarked on a counselling course at the prestigious ‘Iron Mill Institute’ in Exeter, where she gained her BACP Accredited Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling/Therapy. Since qualifying in 2006 she has supported many people back to ‘wellness’. She is an Integrative Counsellor and is trained to work with many different problems and issues although she has always specialised in the treatment of OCD. Karen is very passionate about her work and feels honoured and privileged to do what she does. She has held a local support group in her home town for a short while where she received great feedback. She continues to upgrade her work professionally via supervision, attending workshops and researching information that is relevant. Karen’s qualities lie in her ability to connect and build rapport with her clients very quickly. She is down to earth, honest, professional, empathic, motivational and understanding. She is determined and doesn’t give up easily. This attribute, she believes, has helped her to fight her OCD and achieve what she has to date.

Sharon Davies

CPCAB dip (MBACP)

Sharon is a fully qualified extensively experienced therapist in the field of OCD. She has proved that she can effectively treat clients on a one to one basis as well as conducting group intensives, both with great results. She has received outstanding feedback both from clients and carers. Her knowledge and expertise also comes from being a carer and a sufferer of OCD. Whilst caring for her son Craig who developed OCD as a small child and following a very stressful period in her life she went on to develop the condition herself. Frustrated and at her wits end with not getting effective treatment to help her son, she made it her quest to research the subject herself. Once Sharon and her son Craig received the correct treatment they began their recovery. Sharon then made it her ambition to help support people who also suffer from the condition. Her career in the field of OCD therapy started with running support groups as well as working on an OCD helpline. During this time she began training as a counsellor and has since qualified with a counselling Diploma after 4 years of study and counselling placement work. Sharon has always been totally committed to the OCD cause and has attended several workshops presented by some of the worlds most prestigious figures in the field of OCD. Sharon has also been involved in promoting better OCD awareness something she feels passionate about and has done media articles and radio interviews. Sharon’s strengths lie in her enthusiasm and determination to succeed. She is empathic, motivational, down to earth, hard working and has a great sense of humour.
